Synthesis and Cytotoxicity of Fluorinated Amino Saccharides.
Hamala, Vojtěch
This work presents the synthesis of acetyl, propionyl, and butyrylesters of monofluorinated, difluorinated, and trifluorinated analogues\nof N-acetyl-d-glucosamine and N-acetyl-d-galactosamine, and theircytotoxicity expressed as IC50 values against the MDA-MB-231 cancer\ncell line (triple-negative breast cancer) along with their IC50 valuesagainst the HEK-293 non-cancerous cell line.

Modular Synthesis of Dendritic Amphiphiles.
Edr, Antonín
The synthesis of such structures starts by an attachment of alkyl chain/s R and dendritic wedge/s to the starting molecules. These dendritic wedges are ended by three allyl groups so that various polar groups can be conjugated to the periphery of the wedge by so called thiol-ene click reaction. In addition to the resulting symmetrical structures, a synthesis of their unsymmetrical analogues bearing fluorescent tag on one of its arms (Figure 1) will be presented.

Recovery of Waste Semiconductors for CVD Precursors.
Bumba, Jakub ; Dytrych, Pavel ; Fajgar, Radek ; Dřínek, Vladislav
The newly patented method for regeneration of ultrapure silicon and germanium via magnesium silicide and magnesium germanide from waste photovoltaic (PV) cells, broken germanium lenses and waste magnesium chips was utilized to obtain chemical vapour deposition (CVD) precursors for application in electronics, optics or nanoparticles synthesis. Magnesium silicide and germanide were prepared directly by thermal synthesis from waste materials in optimized tube reactor at 400°C and 5 Pa. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) confirmed 97.9% respective 95% purity of products. The presence of silicon and germanium hydrides (CVD precursors) prepared by acid hydrolysis in the second step of the process was verified by Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectroscopy (GC/MS) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The crude, unrefined mixture of silicon hydrides served as raw material for CVD experiment at different substrates. SEM images confirmed occurrence of various micro and nano particles which could be used in electronics, optics and catalysis.

Synthesis of Steroid Derivatives for In Vitro Diagnostics.
Kos, Martin ; Váňa, Lubomír ; Žádný, Jaroslav ; Storch, Jan
This work is focused on the synthesis of novel steroidal androgen derivatives consisting of a steroidal skeleton, a spacer and imidazole ring or a primary amine functional group. The starting material for the synthesis is represented by commercial available hydroxy-androgens, which are further modified. First, the hydroxyl group is attached to the spacer and then connected to the desired imidazole or the protected primary amine. The above described derivatives will be utilized for development of analytical kits for a determination of the free steroid hormone.
